We got there early and set up in the backyard for Owen's Pirate birthday party in Rahway, New Jersey. The net went up, Ship to Shore went in, and the pirate puzzle boxes were out before the first guest arrived. We were ready when they walked into the yard.
We introduced ourselves and the kids shouted happy birthday to Owen. That started the hour.
Four Corners got everyone moving. Then we split into two teams for Cannonball Cleanup. Cannonballs crossed the net we had set in the yard. One team kept the deck clearer and did not want to stop throwing. When we were ready, we brought Owen and the rest of the group to Ship to Shore.
Ship to Shore came next. They stole the treasure and left the ship by the plank. Then we opened the pirate puzzle boxes, and that is where this hour settled.
Kids stayed on Pop the Pirate and on collecting gems out of the sand. At the gems, they put their hands in the sand and came up with gems, then went back in. Owen came through that box and left it for Pop the Pirate.
Owen kept going back to Pop the Pirate. He would take a turn, walk to the gems, and return. Other guests used both boxes the same way. Those two stations held the end of the hour, and Owen kept going back to Pop the Pirate until we packed up.
Happy birthday again, Owen. There was pizza, then cupcakes, and party favors for everyone on the way out.
Stay Adventurous,
Ginny
