Most Maplewood parties happen in the backyard. Memorial Park in the center of town has open grass and paths. DeHart Park on Burnett Avenue sits next to the Maplewood Community Center. The South Mountain YMCA on Jefferson Avenue is another indoor gym we have used.
Within 10 miles of Cranford, travel is included. We also run parties in South Orange, West Orange, Union, and Montclair. 10 to 20 miles adds $30.
The Maplewood Log
Pirate
Charlotte's pirate party was at Memorial Park in the center of Maplewood. She had broken her wrist a few weeks earlier, and we kept her safe through the usual hour. Ship to Shore was the station they latched onto. When that run ended, her crew asked to go back and do it again.
Among Us
Caleb wanted the emergency meetings. We ran them in his Maplewood backyard, and the other kids started waiting for him to speak before they voted. Between meetings they ran jobs on the grass. He called the last meeting himself and would not sit until it was over.
Harry Potter
Miles wanted a wand and stayed on the clue trail in the Maplewood Community Center until that one was his. The rest of the kids were already on the gym floor for Quidditch. He walked over late with the wand and joined his house. He would not take it off for the rest of the hour.
The Pirate Fairy
Iris grabbed the fairy treasure on the first crossing and would not hand it off. We had the run set in her Maplewood backyard. The kids raced home while a guide tried to catch them. She kept that stash against her side the rest of the hour.
Pokémon
About twenty kids filled the gym at the South Mountain YMCA on Jefferson Avenue. Wren ran the battle table and would not rotate. Friends brought him their catches and he stayed to fight them. We had to walk him out when parents showed up. He was still holding a Pokéball.
We change the kids' names when we write these up. Everything else is what happened.
