Blindfolds turned Tate's Survivor birthday party at LaGrande Park into the loudest corner of Fanwood, New Jersey. The kids got silly the second they could not see, and they kept laughing at themselves. We had a hard time looking anywhere else.
We got names out and shouted happy birthday on a cool, lovely stretch of summer, and Tate's custom buffs were already waiting. He had named the tribes and sorted his friends before we got there, while his mom and her side of the family watched the way people do when they actually love the show. His sister was in the middle of her own princess party at the same time, so LaGrande Park felt like two birthdays at once.
One of Tate's friends said he already knew the river crossing from the local Y, and that tribe followed him across. After that we had set the matching cones far from the lines so Tate and his friends could not peek at what the other kids had found. It took them a long time to start talking and remember where things were.
Another happy birthday for Tate. Pizza and cupcakes did the rest, with a pinata and favors to take home. We are still smiling about those blindfolds, Tate.
Stay Adventurous!
