We got there early and set up in the backyard in Maplewood, New Jersey. This one came together last-minute. Charlotte had broken her wrist a few weeks earlier, and we kept her safe through the usual hour. When the guests arrived, the Pirate party was ready.
We went around for names, then the kids shouted happy birthday to Charlotte. Four Corners warmed everyone up. Cannonball Cleanup came next: two teams, a messy deck, cannonballs back and forth over the net. Team 1 dominated that game.
Ship to Shore was the station of the hour. The kids were excited about treasure at the end, and Charlotte's crew went after it once they were aboard. They crossed with a cannonball and climbed the rope ladder. They used the mast as their target, got to the treasure box, and left by the plank.
A guide played the octopus and chased Charlotte's crew through all of that. Foam swords were part of the run. They were eager to use them to try to cut the tentacles.
We moved to the pirate puzzle boxes after that. When the boxes ended, they wanted to go back to Ship to Shore.
Happy birthday again, Charlotte. Pizza and cupcakes were next, then party favors.
Stay Adventurous!
Ginny
